SALFORD CITY FC FOUNDATION SHORTLISTED FOR TWO NORTH-WEST FOOTBALL AWARDS

Salford City FC Foundation has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 North West Football Awards, while Salford City FC’s Ade Oluwo is on the list for the PFA League Two Community Champion award.

As the official charity of Salford City FC we continue to do amazing work across Salford and beyond, supporting over 17,400 individuals in 2025 with more than 25,000 hours of support delivered.

In recognition of his contribution to the community during his debut campaign, Ade was named the Club’s PFA Community Champion for 2025-26 and is subsequently amongst the contenders for the League Two award.

The finalists for the Club and Charity categories for this year’s edition of the NWFAs have also been revealed, with Salford City FC Foundation in the running for two awards at the prestigious event in November.

The first award nomination is the Community Club of the Season – All other Leagues, which recognises the impact that club community organisations and charities have in their area. The Foundation are previous winners of the award in 2024, and this year the other nominees are Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Oldham Athletic and Wrexham.

The second nomination is in the Women in Football Promoting Inclusion Award, for the KeepHERS Programme in partnership with Mary Earps, which started earlier this year.

KeepHERS was created to address the lack of accessible, specialist opportunities for girls interest in goalkeeping, and provides participants with coaching, skill development and technical training, mentorship and confidence-building, and a supportive, inclusive environment designed specifically for girls.

Integrated directly with the existing Girls ETC, Premier League Kicks and school sports programmes, there are clear entry points and progression routes into the wider female football pathway.

The other finalists are Burnley FC for their Transforming the Future of Women’s Coaching programme; Liverpool Feds Women’s Football Club; and Manchester Laces.

Martin Ingham-Griffith, CEO of Salford City FC Foundation Said:

“Being shortlisted for two North West Football Awards is fantastic recognition of the hard work and commitment of our staff, volunteers, partners and participants who make our programmes possible every day.

Our Community Club of the Season nomination reflects the breadth of work we deliver across Salford, supporting thousands of people through sport, education, health and wellbeing opportunities. To also be recognised for the Women in Football Promoting Inclusion Award for KeepHERS is particularly special, as the programme is helping to create more opportunities for girls to develop their skills, confidence and passion for goalkeeping.

As Salford City FC Foundation, we are incredibly proud of the impact we continue to have across our communities, and these nominations provide an opportunity to celebrate that work alongside some fantastic organisations from across the North West. We look forward to the awards ceremony in November and wish all of the other finalists the very best.”

Winners of each award will be announced at the ceremony on Monday 2nd November 2026.
